Much is written about descaling washing machines. The advice often involves cleaning and descaling with vinegar, baking soda, citric acid, or even a dishwasher tablet. However, the effectiveness of these methods is very limited, with the risk of subsequent problems. These products usually do not contain additives (safe auxiliary substances) and therefore dissolve grease. Silicone seams, rubbers, and gaskets consist of grease! It is therefore not a good 'solution' to dissolve these greases. The appliance will start leaking, among other things, with all the associated consequences.

Limescale forms when water is heated. First, the limescale settles at the bottom of the washing machine, after which it adheres to the heating element. To safely descale your washing machine, we advise against using citric acid or cleaning vinegar products. These types of products also dissolve grease (see labels). Rubbers, gaskets, and silicone seams consist of grease; therefore, if we dissolve this grease, leaks will occur in your machine. Citric acid-based products cause insoluble deposits, which will sooner or later lead to blockages. Both citric acid and cleaning vinegar leave behind an unpleasant, pungent odor. To extend functionality and lifespan, washing machines (even when using soft water) must be cleaned/descaled regularly.
