The History of Durgol
durgol is a Swiss quality product and a pioneer in the field of descaling since 1951. As a Swiss family business, Düring AG remains loyal to its location in Switzerland for development and production. Düring AG aims to become the world's number one when it comes to descaling products.
A family business with tradition since 1951
More than 65 years ago, Maria Düring-Keller, the grandmother of the three current owners of Düring AG, came up with the decisive business idea while cleaning stubborn limescale from her toilet, bathtub, and taps. She developed a highly effective descaling agent herself—this was the birth of the Durgol brand. The entrepreneur went on a promotional tour by car and was not afraid to clean the toilets of potential customers herself, wearing an elegant dress with a hat and veil.

Swiss ingenuity
In 1963, her son Walter Düring-Orlob joined the company and provided new impetus. He not only designed the company's first professional filling machine but also developed a new type of descaling agent with unique corrosion protection, making it possible to descale metal objects since 1968. The new product—now known as durgol universal—quickly became the Swiss market leader.

The secret of success
Swiss, reliable, and leading in terms of quality – that is what durgol stands for. Since 1951, durgol products have been continuously developed to meet high standards of efficiency, thoroughness, and environmental friendliness.
The portfolio, based on the proven universal descaler, has been supplemented with special descaling agents for household appliances and cleaning products that offer additional benefits beyond descaling.

1980
In 1980, Walter Düring succeeded in making a major invention with the WC-ENTE, which revolutionized toilet cleaning and achieved worldwide fame. The first recipe came from his wife (Vera Düring). Further variants and product forms followed over the years. Since the sale of the brand rights to WC-ENTE at the end of 2008, Düring AG has focused entirely on its core business, descaling.
The company is still owned by the founding family. The third generation now holds the position of the Board of Directors and remains strongly present in day-to-day operations. They carefully ensure that core values such as Swiss quality and reliability are preserved in the corporate culture for the future.
