Why Swiss Espresso?
Durgol Swiss Espresso has been specially developed for use in modern, high-quality coffee machines (i.e., closed systems). Durgol Swiss Espresso produces less foam than Durgol Universal. Limescale is removed easily and quickly as the liquid (Durgol & water) flows through the machine. In narrow pipes and valves, it is important to limit the amount of foam generated.

General remarks

Complete descaling of your household machine is only guaranteed by using an entire dosing bottle of Durgol Swiss Espresso (125ml) per descaling operation.

Espresso machines for professional use with a water tank of more than 1.5 liters may require two bottles of Durgol Swiss Espresso per descaling operation.

Durgol Swiss Espresso is a special descaler for espresso machines, the product safety of which has been proven numerous times. If used correctly, damage to the material can be ruled out with great certainty.

Please note that we accept no liability for damage caused by failure to adhere to these instructions for use.

Check the descaling advice on the website for more information or contact us.

When should my espresso machine be descaled?

Descale your espresso machine regularly and early! Depending on the machine type, you can determine the descaling time as follows:

Machines with a warning light: Set the machine to the water hardness level according to the manufacturer's instructions. This can be obtained from the water utility or determined using a special test strip. As soon as the warning light illuminates, the machine must be descaled.

Machines without a warning light: Descale the machine as soon as it starts to function more slowly or irregularly, or when the quality of the foam layer ("crema") deteriorates.

We recommend descaling regularly and on time, ideally every 3 months. For descaling and rinsing, first and foremost follow the instructions for your coffee machine.

Not harmful to the environment?

Salts are formed through the reaction of the acid with the lime, whereby the acid is neutralized. Any excess durgol swiss espresso contributes to the neutralization of the usually excessively present alkalis (originating from detergents) in the sewage water.

durgol swiss espresso does not result in the fertilization of the water system.

Thanks to its strong lime-dissolving capacity, durgol swiss espresso is economical to use and therefore environmentally friendly.
Overdosing is impossible due to the portioned packaging.

The bottle of durgol swiss espresso is made of PET, is recyclable, and therefore not harmful to the environment.

Easy and safe to use?

Thanks to the rapid descaling process with durgol swiss espresso, the descaling procedure is quick and simple. durgol swiss espresso is ready to use. Unlike descalers in powder or tablet form, durgol swiss espresso does not need to be dissolved in water. No additives need to be added to the liquid durgol swiss espresso, as is the case with descaling tablets that leave residue in the machine and can clog it.

One bottle (125ml) of durgol swiss espresso is sufficient for one complete descaling. Ordinary descalers are often underdosed and therefore do not descale the machine optimally. durgol swiss espresso is food-safe.

durgol swiss espresso leaves no chemical residue in the machine after descaling and rinsing.

durgol swiss espresso is odorless and tasteless.

The right descaler for your espresso machine?

Durgol Swiss Espresso has been specially developed for descaling espresso machines (=closed systems). Durgol Swiss Espresso is highly effective against limescale but does not damage the machine.

Compared to Durgol Universal, Durgol Swiss Espresso produces little to no foam or fizz. Because Swiss Espresso does not foam or fizz, no pressure builds up on the fine pipes of the device. This is in contrast to other descaling products! Since there is no foam formation, the liquid can easily come into contact with the limescale present.

Thanks to effective corrosion protection, Durgol Swiss Espresso does not damage the material of the espresso machine when applied correctly. No sediment forms during descaling that could clog the machine.

Durgol Swiss Espresso is highly effective against limescale and works up to 10 times faster than other descalers. One bottle (125ml) of Durgol Swiss Espresso dissolves a maximum of 10 grams of limescale. This is sufficient to fully descale an espresso machine once.

Durgol Swiss Espresso generally requires no additional waiting time, meaning the entire descaling process is significantly faster.

Why should you not descale with citric acid or vinegar?

When descaling with a citric acid-based descaler, sediment may form that can clog the fine pipes and valves in your espresso machine. Furthermore, the citric acid can form an insoluble layer that effectively seals the limescale. In addition, descaling with citric acid takes at least 10 times longer than with durgol® swiss espresso®.

Vinegar or vinegar essence causes an unpleasant odor during descaling due to the acetic acid and flavorings present. Moreover, the plastic material in your espresso machine can eventually take on this taste, affecting the aroma of the espresso.

Some plastics can be damaged by the acetic acid. As with citric acid, descaling with vinegar is much slower (>10x) than with durgol® swiss espresso®.

Why do you need to descale your espresso machine?

Limescale buildup in your espresso machine can negatively affect the quality of the espresso and the lifespan of your machine.

This limescale prolongs brewing time and causes poorer heat transfer, resulting in lower espresso quality.

Over time, the layer of limescale in the machine becomes thicker and can cause blockages and constrictions. Furthermore, limescale damages your espresso machine and also causes corrosion. This can lead to damage to the machine.

Limescale buildup leads to increased energy consumption by your espresso machine, which is harmful to the environment.

To maintain the optimal quality of your espresso and ensure the lifespan of your machine, it is important to descale your machine in a timely manner.
